Welcome to Hawk Designs. My name is Gavin Hawk. My dad, Grant Hawk, and I live in Idaho City, a small historical gold-mining town in the mountains about 40 miles north of Boise. I've lived in Idaho City my whole life and have gotten to know all 375 people living here-at least that's what the population sign says. My dad has been making knives since 1995, and I started making my own knives soon after, when I was thirteen. I was a little reluctant at first, but it didn't take me long to appreciate the ability to dream up a design and then to go out in our shop and make it.

We started out making a cowboy-style fixed blade that my dad designed using horse hoof for the handles. I  remember our first show that we attended in Eugene, Oregon. Our fixed blades went over very well, but as we looked around at what other knife makers were doing we decided that we would try a tactical folder. After that show we went home and designed the D.O.G. Lock folder. This knife design is working well for us. The D.O.G. Lock has gone through a lot of changes since it first debuted at the Costa Mesa, CA. Blade Show West.

Our latest knife, the K-AT, which stands for Knife-All Terrain is small fixed blade that converts from belt carry to a neck knife. Even though the knife itself is very unique, the sheath is incredibly high-tech looking. The sheath is made from a urethane elastomer, a material which has never been used for a sheath before. The knife it self is also very different. It is the first knife to use an onboard lanyard, that is there when you need it, but it can be wrapped up when you're done with it so you don't have an annoying loop catching on things.
